The owner, operator and captain of Fishin' Off is Jim Korney, a retired naval officer of
twenty years service. Since joining the Navy in '75' as a young Ensign fresh out of Holy
Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts, Jim hasn't been able to shake his love of the
sea, the roll and pitch of a deck underfoot and the splash of salt spray upon the face.
A combat veteran who served aboard battleship Missouri throughout Operation Desert Storm,
Jim still enjoys his outings on Fishin' Off, a vessel of 36 ft as compared to Missouri's
887 ft.
Jim, with over thirty years of maritime experience, holds a 100 Ton USCG Merchant Marine
Officers License, is First Aid/CPR qualified, scuba certified and is fully insured. Jim holds
a B.A. in Biology and a Masters in Maritime Affairs from the University of Rhode Island and
an MBA from Bryant College. He is actively involved in shark tagging programs sponsored by
the National Marine Fisheries Program.
Not one to believe that such thing as retirement exists, Jim is a also a 7th Grade Math
teacher at a local Middle School.
Whether you're an experienced angler or a beginner you will enjoy yourself in Jim's
company aboard Fishin' Off. Jim's philosophy with his customers is best summed in his
own words, "We are committed to providing you, the customer, personalized service and
an enjoyable experience."
